Criteria for Completing Your Profile

  1. You can change your name to a student facing teacher name. Make it engaging and avoid using your full real name in order to protect your privacy. this name will appear in our public teacher marketplace.
  2. Certifications should be entered in short form e.g. BA/BEd, MEd (hisory), TKT, etc.
  3. Teaching experience should be entered as a number in full years.
  4. Select your timezone. This is critical for scheduling. Not all cities are avavilable, so choose one that you know is in your timezone. It helps to type the region name first e.g. Asia/ when choosing from the drop down list.
  5. You may provide a link to any publically viewable source for your introductory video. Please check the criteria below for your video. This will be changed later on approval.
  6. Select a nice profile picture that is suitable to appear in the marketplace.
  7. Your About Me section should be engaging and address the criteria listed below.

Your Introductory Video

Your introductory video is one of your most important advertising tools. Make sure you address all of the following criteria. It may take several shoots and some editing to get it right.

  1. Make sure you address potential students in this video. Do not address the MyCoolCass adminstration team. This is your marketing tool and an opportunity to showcase you and your skills.
  2. It should be filmed in landscape orientation with the camera at head height, with clear audio and good video quality to avoid dark shadows.
  3. The background should be your classroom and you should be dressed appropriately. Casual is fine, but look professional.
  4. You should explain the basics of who you are, what you teach, your qualifications, experience, and teaching style. Highlight what a student should expect from taking a class with you.
  5. Appear friendly and approachable.
  6. The term ‘native speaker” shouldn’t be mentioned, nor should discriminatory statements about gender, race, or ethnicity.
  7. The video should be no shorter than 45 seconds and no longer than 4 minutes and shouldn’t contain “dead space.”

Your About Me Section

 This is another important marketing tool, so plese put in some effort. You may want to use an AI program like ChatGPT to assist you with making this comprehensive and engaging.

  1. Describe the basics of who you are, what you teach, your qualifications and experience, teaching style, and what a student should expect from taking a class with you.
  2. There should be no spelling or grammatical errors, the term ‘native speaker” shouldn’t be mentioned.
  3. There should be no discriminatory statements about preference of gender, race, or ethnicity.
